Shooting Club Marija Bistrica was founded in 1976 and already at the very beginning achieved success. The club was founded by Miljenko Vrabec, and today he is the president of the club, and Boris Galoić is secretary and coach.  Bistrica shooters' success has began since the time of the former Yugoslavia. One of the biggest success were two state championship were won by Klementina Milički.
Since Croatian independence shooters from Marija Bistrica have continued with the top results. In 1999 Dino Čukman became Croatian champion in the cadet competition in the serial air rifle shooting, and in 2001 Bistrica shooters won the first state junior team title in Marija Bistrica. In 2002 the climax was reached. In the Croatian Junior Championship in serial air rifle shooting Bistrica shooters won two gold medals, team and Dino Čukman individually, in senior championships in the same weapons teams returned with a silver medal and Dino with bronze medal. That year SC passed in 1 A Croatian league of the standard rifle shooting, in which the Bistrica shooters still compete.
The most successful year for Bistrica shooters were 2006 and 2008 when they won titles in the Croatian standard air gun. In addition, Dino Čukman won first place in the individual parts. In 2006 his success was completed by second place of Hrvoje Šimunec and third place by Robert Belko and Robert Belko confirmed his long time successful engagement in shooting by winning second place in Croatian championship in 2008. Neither the 2009 has gone without a medal. Team won silver medals in the national championship in the serial air rifle.
